What is the Ontario Provincial nominee program?

What is the Ontario Provincial nominee program?

Every year, one-third of all immigrants to Canada arrive in Ontario. Immigrants most frequently settle in Ontario in Canada. Immigrants can obtain a provincial nomination that enables them to submit an application for permanent residency through Ontario's Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), also known as the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP).

The OINP was established in 2007 to address skill shortages in particular fields and provide the province with simpler investment avenues. The province will receive 9,750 nominees in 2022. Base and upgraded streams make up the OINP's immigration program. The government Express Entry system, which oversees applications for permanent residence submitted through Canada's three primary economic class immigration programs, is in line with the enhanced streams.

The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) is used by the Express Entry system to assign candidates a score, and the top-scoring individuals are subsequently invited to submit an application for permanent residency. An additional 600 points will be awarded to candidates who have nominations from enhanced provincial programs, effectively ensuring that they will obtain an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence. Base streams, on the other hand, do not align with Express Entry, thus applicants must submit their applications directly to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

The Immigration Streams in Ontario

When applying for immigration to Ontario, candidates can select from one of three categories:

- Employer Job Offer Category

- Business Category

- Human Capital Category

- Masters or Ph.D. Category

- Category of Human Capital

Two sub-streams make up the Human Capital Category. The Ontario Express Entry, which has been improved, is the first stream, the Human Capital Category. The Master's and Ph.D. Category, the other stream, is not compatible with Express Entry. The programs listed below are included in the Human Capital Category substream:

Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) and Canadian Experience Class are examples of human capital priorities (CEC)

For people with relevant work experience in an Ontario-eligible trade occupation, see "Skilled Trades" Like the Human Capital Priorities program run by FSWP and CEC, the French-Speaking Worker program requires applicants to be fluent in French and English.

The Master's and Ph.D. The category includes the following courses:

- for those who have a Master’s degree from an Ontario university, the Master’s Graduate Stream

- Ph.D. Graduate Stream: for those who have a Ph.D. from an Ontario university.

The candidates must create a profile and register an expression of interest (EOI) with Ontario's Expression of Interest system because the programs offered under this stream are base streams.

Employer Job Offer Classification

The Employer Job Offer Category includes the following initiatives:

- For skilled employees only, the foreign worker stream

- For foreign students who have recently graduated from Ontario's post-secondary institutions

- There are in-demand skill streams for intermediate-skilled workers in a few industries, such as construction, agriculture, haulage, and personal support workers. The applicant must have a full-time, permanent work offer in an approved occupation in Ontario and intend to reside in Ontario in order to qualify under this category. In addition, they must possess the necessary credentials, such as a license or other authorization, to carry out the job.

Additionally, the Regional Immigration Pilot program falls under the Employer Job Offer Category and aims to draw and keep immigrants to Ontario's small towns and rural areas to meet labor shortages.

Company Category

Candidates for immigration who want to create a business or purchase an existing one in Ontario fall under the business category. The Entrepreneur Stream is the sole curriculum offered in this category.
