Quebec and British Columbia issue invitations for provincial immigration

Quebec and British Columbia issue invitations for provincial immigration

ITAs are distributed in draws by two provinces. Candidates for provincial immigration programs have received invitations to apply from Quebec and British Columbia this week.

With the exception of Quebec and Nunavut, the majority of Canadian provinces and territories run their own provincial nomination programs (PNPs). Interested candidates may receive invitations from these programs to submit an application for a provincial nomination.

Provincial nomination can serve as the initial step toward obtaining permanent residence from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, despite the fact that it is not the same as one in and of itself (IRCC).

The immigration policies of Quebec are different from those of Canada and are handled by the province. Only Quebec has authority over immigrants from every economic class. Over 80,000 PR admissions every year are accounted for by the PNP.

Since its inception in 1998, the PNP has steadily increased in number each year in Canada. This is because both the federal and provincial governments see it as a useful tool for fostering the country's economic growth outside of its already heavily immigrant-populated provinces and urban centers.

Results for provincial immigration from October 8 to October 14

Quebec

On September 29, Quebec opened applications for its permanent selection of 1,195 skilled professionals. In this draw, no particular NOCs or places were sought after. Candidates had to have Arrima Expression of Interest profiles with a minimum of 597-point ratings. This is a lower score compared to the most recent general draw, which was held on September 15, when the score was 620.

This is the third draw in the month of September and the twelfth draw that Quebec has held in 2022. Quebec generally only holds draws once a month, so this is uncommon. One to two weeks after draws take place, Quebec releases the results of the draws. Invitations were sent out by the Ministry of Immigration, Refugee, and Integration (MIFI) to immigrants who submitted applications through the Quebec Regular Skilled Worker Program (QSWP).

Those who get an invitation from Quebec to apply for permanent selection have up to 60 days to complete their applications and payment processing fees. Beginning on the day when all necessary information is obtained, Quebec plans to process complete applications in six months. This refers to all paperwork and forms.

British Columbia

On October 12, more than 364 applicants were invited to submit their applications for a provincial nomination in British Columbia. In a random draw, the province selected 320 applicants. Candidates from the categories of International Graduates and Skilled Workers, as well as Express Entry applicants, received invitations.

For Entry Level and Semi-Skilled candidates, the minimum SIRS score required for entry was 78. Similar to the Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), SIRS only applies to the PNP of British Columbia.

The following occupations were also the subject of invitation rounds from the province.

- 25 early childhood educators and support staff with scores of at least 60 points (NOC 4214);

- 19 healthcare professionals with scores of at least 60 points from the EEBC option's skilled worker, international graduate, entry-level, and semi-skilled categories.

- entry-level and semi-skilled healthcare aides who have received a minimum score of 60;

- Other high-priority careers need at least 60

The shift from NOC 2016 to NOC 2021, a new method of evaluating a candidate's skill level in economic immigration programs, will cause British Columbia to pause drawings between October 12 and November 16. As a result, this will be the last draw for the BC PNP for a month.
