PEI PNP finishes off year inviting 125 immigrants to apply for a provincial nomination

PEI PNP finishes off year inviting 125 immigrants to apply for a provincial nomination

The PEI Provincial Nomination Program ends the year by inviting 125 immigrants to apply for a provincial nomination

On December 16, PEI held its last scheduled PNP draw. The results of the new Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw have been revealed on Prince Edward Island.

The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) issued invitations to a total of 124 immigration hopefuls.

Candidates who applied through Express Entry and those who applied through Labor Impact received the most invitations, totalling 114. The remaining 11 invites went to Business Impact candidates who scored at least 67 points in their province.

This is the marine province's final planned draw of the year. P.E.I. invited 1,804 candidates in 2021, 1,697 from the Labor Impact and Express Entry streams and 157 from the General stream.

PEI PNP Express Entry Category

Candidates who meet the federal Express Entry requirements and want to live and work in the Canadian province of Prince Edward Island (PEI) can apply for the PEI Express Entry category.

Depending on whether or not a foreign national has a work offer on PEI, there are two paths to Canadian permanent residency under the PEI Express Entry Category.

PEI picks Express Entry candidates whose skills fit the province's current labour needs. A successful nomination in the Express Entry category of the Prince Edward Island Nominee Program (PEI PNP) boosts the chances of earning an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence through the Express Entry System.

PEI's PNP is based on an EOI (Expression of Interest) system. This means that a candidate is required to have an active profile in PEI’s EOI system. The PEI PNP Express Entry Category is a subcategory of the PEI PNP.

The Express Entry Category of the PEI PNP is an improved PNP, meaning it is linked to the federal government's Express Entry system. Candidates must have a profile in the system to be considered for this stream.

Express Entry is a service that manages immigration applications. It processes applications for the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Canadian Experience Class, which are all economic-class immigration programmes.

Eligible candidates are given a CRS score based on their age, work experience, education, and English or French language competency.

Express Entry candidates who are nominated by a province gain an extra 600 points on their CRS score and are practically guaranteed an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence in the next Express Entry draw.

Express Entry candidates must construct an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile with the PEI PNP in order to be eligible for a provincial nomination.

The province's unique points grid is used to assign points to EOI profiles. The candidates with the highest scores are then invited to apply in monthly lotteries.

Impact on the Workforce

Foreign nationals who have a valid work offer in P.E.I. and are supported by their company are eligible for the Labor Impact Category. Skilled Worker, Critical Worker, and International Graduate are the three streams.

In order to be considered for a provincial nomination through the Labor Impact Category, candidates in this category must also submit an Expression of Interest.

Business Impact Category

Candidates in the Business Impact Category must meet the provincial minimum score criterion in order to continue with their applications. Every draw has a different score. The PEI PNP issued invitations for today's draw under the Work Permit Stream, which is for international entrepreneurs who want to own and operate a business on the island.

Process for Applying for PNP Express Entry in PEI

An Expression of Interest (EOI) system governs the PEI PNP Express Entry category. This means that foreign nationals must indicate their desire to apply for the PEI PNP and get an invitation before submitting an application.

Foreign nationals must already be registered in the federal government's Express Entry selection system to apply for the PEI Express Entry Stream.

Individuals must meet the requirements of at least one of Canada's primary economic immigration programmes, including the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class, in order to be considered for Express Entry.

Depending on whether or not a foreign person has a work offer in the province, the PEI PNP Express Entry category offers two paths to permanent residence.

2. Register with PEI's EOI system and create a profile

Anyone interested in creating an EOI profile does not have to pay a fee to the government of PEI. Foreign nationals will be required to give a valid email address as well as identifying information in order to build an EOI profile (including passport details).

An EOI profile will be active for six months after it has been confirmed by the province. Candidates must make certain that the information in their profiles is correct and verified. It's crucial to understand that submitting an EOI profile is not the same as submitting an application; rather, it's an expression of interest in being considered for a position.

3. Receive an invitation from the Government of PEI to submit a comprehensive application for a provincial nomination

The PEI PNP invites qualified highest-scoring applicants to apply for a provincial nomination during periodic lotteries.

4. Within 60 days, prepare and submit an application for a provincial nomination, including all required original documents

Candidates who have been asked to apply must complete all relevant forms, gather all required supporting evidence, and submit a complete application package to the PEI Office of Immigration, together with the application fee, within 60 days after receiving their invitation.

5. Accept the nomination from PEI

Before submitting an application for permanent residence in Canada to the Government of Canada, nominees must first receive a federal Invitation To Apply (ITA).

6. Apply to the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants(CICC) for permanent residence in Canada if a federal ITA is issued

If the foreign national's application for permanent residence in Canada is approved, he or she must report their arrival to the Government of Prince Edward Island within 30 days.
