Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia and Prince Edward Island issue invitation for Provincial Immigration

Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia and Prince Edward Island issue invitation for Provincial Immigration

In the most recent round of publicized draw results, four Canadian provinces have urged potential immigrants to apply for provincial immigration. The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) exclusive Express Entry lottery that took place on May 10 is in addition to these drawings. 589 PNP candidates received Invitations to Apply (ITAs) in the draw. A Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 691 was the minimum requirement. The fourth PNP-only Express Entry draw of 2023 took place this time.

The PNP was established in 1998 to assist provinces in luring in economic immigrants who are most likely to settle down and establish themselves economically in the province. This is done to distribute the advantages of immigration across the entire country of Canada rather than keeping them confined to a few major cities. Except for Quebec, all of the Canadian provinces and territories. Quebec and the federal government have a separate agreement that gives the province the right to choose any economic immigrants who choose to live there.

Results for provincial immigration, May 5–12 Ontario

In the last week, Ontario held four draws and invited 5,196 candidates.

On May 5, the province held a targeted draw for IT jobs under the Express Entry Human Capital Priorities Stream, inviting 1,863 applicants. Candidates required a CRS score between 475 and 482. On May 8, Ontario held a draw for positions in the healthcare industry, inviting 2,349 applicants. These applicants needed a minimum CRS score of 427 and were also in the Express Entry Human Capital Priorities stream. On May 9, there were also two draws. The first appeared under Job Offer by Employer: a foreign student

584 applicants were selected from both the tech and health fields by the province. A score of 62 or above was required for all candidates. 400 applicants with minimum scores of 43 from the Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker Stream were called to the second draw on May 9. Candidates were only invited if they had work offers in the targeted skilled trades occupations and were Canadian citizens.

Quebec

For consideration for permanent selection under the Quebec Regular Skilled Worker program, 802 individuals were asked to apply. Each contender needs at least a 571 score. On May 1, a drawing was held, and on May 4, the results were made public. The province specifically targeted applicants with a range of job opportunities beyond the Communauté métropolitaine and National Occupational Classification codes.

All economic immigrants to the province are chosen independently by Quebec, but those who are granted a Quebec Selection Certificate still need to apply to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) in order to become permanent residents.

British Columbia

The BC PNP's skilled worker and international graduate streams held four targeted draws on May 9 that attracted more than 150 applicants. Candidates from Express Entry were drawn. A total of 93 individuals with tech-related vocations and a minimum SIRS score of 90 were the focus of the largest draw. For the BC PNP, the SIRS serves as the CRS.
