Canada’s immigration backlog decreases slightly to 2.6 million

Canada’s immigration backlog decreases slightly to 2.6 million

The amount of IRCC's stock has dropped for the first time since July 2021. In its August 31 inventory, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) report a drop. According to inventory data that an IRCC representative provided to CIC News, the backlog has decreased by 95,204 people in just six weeks.

Since last July, the inventory has developed as follows across all business lines:

- 2,583,827 people as of August 31, 2022

- 2,679,031 individuals from July 15–17, 2022

- 2,387,884 people from June 1 to 6, 2022

- 2022 April 30 - May 2: 2,130,385 people

- 2022 April 11–12: 2,031,589 people

- 2022 March 15–17: 1,844,424 people

- 1 February 2022: 1,815,628 individuals

- 1 813 144 people as of December 15, 2021

- 1,792,404 people as of October 27, 2021

- 6th of July, 2021: 1,447,474 people

The IRCC just launched a new website to track the inventory. On July 31, there were 2.4 million in the IRCC's inventory, according to that website. 1.1 million of them met service criteria, and 1.3 million were behind schedule. The apparent disparity between data from the media department and statistics presented on the government website has prompted CIC News to contact IRCC with questions. If an explanation is discovered, this article will be updated.

Certain programs (enhanced PNPs) are administered by the PNP.
