Canada to remove all Covid-19 related travel restrictions on Oct 1

No longer will travelers need to utilize the ArriveCan app or provide proof of immunization to enter Canada. The ArriveCan app will no longer be required for all travelers as of October 1, 2022, according to a statement from the Canadian government.

All travelers, regardless of citizenship, won't be required to do the following as of October 1, 2022:

- submit public health information through the ArriveCAN app or website;

- provide proof of vaccination;

- go through pre- or on-arrival testing;

- carry out COVID-19-related quarantine or isolation;

- monitor and report if they experience COVID-19 signs or symptoms after arriving in Canada.

Additionally, masks won't be required on Canadian trains or airplanes. According to PHAC, Canada's high vaccination rates, low hospitalization, and death rates, as well as the availability and use of vaccine boosters, are the main reasons why travel restrictions have been lifted. The government continues to strongly advise travellers to use masks and properly check their health.

According to Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos, "We have reached the stage where we can safely relax the sanitary precautions at the border thanks in large part to Canadians who have rolled up their sleeves to get immunized." However, we anticipate COVID-19 and other respiratory infections to continue spreading over the chilly months, therefore I urge everyone to stay up to date with their COVID-19 immunization, including booster doses and personalized preventative measures.

arrive is going away.

Travelers traveling from abroad will no longer be required to download the ArriveCan app. Travelers won't have to upload their itinerary and immunization documentation to the app to show CBSA agents anymore.

There are no prerequisites for domestic travel.

In response to the global outlook on the COVID-19 pandemic, this news was anticipated. As more individuals get immunized and the virus shifts from being a pandemic to being endemic, like the common cold, the number of cases has been declining.

Since last June, Canada has waived the immunization requirements for both domestic and international travel. Government representatives claimed at the time that the suspension of those vaccination requirements was a result of the improving public health situation, with 90% of Canadians already having received their vaccinations against Covid 19.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been over 612 million COVID-19 cases reported globally and over six million fatalities. These figures are probably higher because so many people avoid testing or other forms of diagnosis.
