British Columbia and Manitoba issue invitations to apply for the provincial nominee program

British Columbia and Manitoba issue invitations to apply for the provincial nominee program

Recent PNP lotteries resulted in invitations being issued by two provinces. Candidates have received invitations to apply through the most recent provincial nominee program (PNP) drawings in British Columbia and Manitoba. With the exception of Quebec and Nunavut, the majority of Canadian provinces and territories run their own PNPs. Interested candidates may receive invitations to apply for provincial nomination through these initiatives. Getting a provincial nomination may help you become a permanent resident.

The immigration policies of Quebec are different from those of Canada and are handled by the province. Only Quebec has authority over immigrants from every economic class. Each year, 105,000 PR admissions are made through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). The annual number of PNP admissions started in 1998 and has been gradually rising ever since. The federal and provincial governments view it as a useful tool for fostering economic growth outside of urban areas.

British Columbia

On January 4, British Columbia sent out 163 invitations to apply to candidates in a general draw that included tech jobs. Candidates from the International Graduates and Skilled Workers categories, as well as Entry Level and Semi-Skilled candidates from Express Entry, received invitations. A minimum SIRS score of 105 was required for applicants from the skilled worker and international graduate streams. Candidates who were entry-level and semi-skilled needed a score of 82. Similar to the Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), SIRS only applies to the PNP of British Columbia.

The following occupations were also the subject of invitation rounds from the province. Twenty-eight healthcare professionals from the Skilled Worker, International Graduate, including Express Entry category, with scores of at least 60 points, and 28 early childhood educators and assistants (NOC 4214).

Manitoba

On December 29, Manitoba issued an invitation to 280 candidates through the Manitoba Provincial Nomination Program. Candidates must fulfill a minimum set of requirements related to their program in order to be invited. The province extended an invitation to:

- 202 invites were sent out by Manitoba's Skilled Workers, who required a minimum score of 750.

- 40 invites were sent out by Skilled Workers Overseas, with a minimum score of 711.

- 38 invitations were sent out by the International Education Stream without a scoring requirement. Of the total number of applicants invited, 21 had profiles in the Express Entry database.

All expressions of interest (EOI) submitted before November 16 will still be processed by the province in accordance with the NOC 2016. Any EOIs submitted on or after November 16 will be reviewed in accordance with NOC 2021.
